Art as Therapy Disclaimer
1. Nature of Services
The workshops, programmes, and creative sessions offered through this website are designed to support personal reflection, creativity, and wellbeing.
These services are provided as educational and personal development experiences and are not psychotherapy, counselling, medical treatment, or clinical art therapy.
Participation in these workshops does not establish a therapeutic or clinical relationship between the facilitator and participants.
Participants should not consider these sessions a substitute for professional mental health care, medical advice, or psychological treatment.
2. Scope of Practice
The facilitator provides creative wellbeing and art-based reflective experiences only.
The facilitator does not diagnose, treat, or cure mental health conditions.
If participants require therapeutic support, they are encouraged to seek assistance from a qualified healthcare provider, counsellor, psychologist, or registered creative arts therapist affiliated with organisations such as Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association.
3. Participant Responsibility
By participating in a workshop, programme, or event, participants acknowledge that:
They are responsible for their own wellbeing and participation choices.
They will engage in activities at their own pace and comfort level.
They may pause, step away, or decline participation in any activity.
Participants are encouraged to seek appropriate professional support if they are experiencing significant emotional distress or mental health concerns.
4. Emotional Wellbeing
Creative activities can sometimes evoke emotions or personal memories.
While facilitators aim to provide a supportive and respectful environment, participants acknowledge that:
The facilitator is not providing therapy or counselling
Emotional responses are individual and cannot be predicted
Participants are responsible for seeking professional support if required.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted under New Zealand law, the facilitator shall not be liable for any loss, injury, emotional distress, or damages arising from participation in workshops, courses, or events.
Participation is voluntary and undertaken at the participant’s own discretion.
Nothing in these terms limits rights available to consumers under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.
6. Confidentiality in Group Settings
Workshops may include opportunities for reflection and voluntary sharing.
Participants agree to respect the privacy of others and to treat personal sharing with care and confidentiality.
However, the facilitator cannot guarantee confidentiality from other participants in a group environment.
Participants are encouraged to share only what feels comfortable and appropriate.
7. Artwork Ownership and Use
All artwork created during workshops remains the intellectual and creative property of the participant.
If the facilitator wishes to photograph or share participant artwork for educational or promotional purposes, separate consent will be requested.
Participants may decline without any impact on their participation.
8. Cultural Respect
Workshops aim to create an inclusive environment that respects the cultural diversity of participants and the values of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Participants are encouraged to engage in creative practices in ways that respect their own cultural background and the cultural expressions of others.
9. Age Requirements
Unless otherwise specified, workshops are intended for participants aged 18 years or older.
Participants under 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
